19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Success also signifies he has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my children together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

Moutet saved 4 initial break points in a tight third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
